What Does Christmas Look Like in Your Home?

Christmas is almost here. At the moment, my kitchen sink is full of mixing bowls, spatulas, and various splashes of colorful icing.

The den floor begs to be vacuumed. Again.

Good news! Laundry no longer rests on the treadmill. Now, wrapping paper, boxes, and gifts weigh it down. Ah…Christmas at my house.

What does Christmas look like in your home?

Never mind the mess. We’ll gradually take care of that. Surely!

Looking beyond the normal messiness, the cherished traditions, and the tempting trappings, what do we see? What do our children and visitors to our homes perceive?

It’s my prayer for my home, and yours, that peace overrides stress, joy leaps beyond discouragements, and love abides in every action.

May we remember what truly matters. What will be tattered or forgotten in a year holds no comparison to the things of eternal value.

Love. Compassion. Forgiveness. Peace. Hope. Joy!

These true gifts are accessible only through Jesus Christ. The alternatives, the knock-offs, will not last. Temporary. Unsatisfying.

I pray we’ll all make time to worship the King, not just on the Sabbath, but every day. May we adore Him greater than any worldly gift. May we thank Him more than any other gift-giver. He is magnificent and worthy.

Finally, I pray that we are sensitive to the Holy Spirit, especially during the busy days ahead. May no time schedule, no setbacks, no worldly expectations distract us from God’s gentle whisper. May we remember to be still and listen.

More than anything,
the one thing I want people to see
when they come to our home,
is Jesus.

From my family to yours, I hope you all have a joyful Christmas.
