Are you ready to live the life
you want with the money you have?
|
Kim Anderson and her husband paid off 93,000 in debt in
two years on ONE income. Then, she wrote this handy little book about it.
Good news spills out from the beginning with
encouragement to start right where you are.
The book addresses many topics similar in style to that
of financial advisors, Larry Burkett and Dave Ramsey. How to set practical
goals, create a doable budget, and how to make do with what you have.
Each chapter begins with a Bible verse or a wise saying. Helpful,
“Thrifty Little Tips” and “Momentum Milestones” are scattered throughout the
book. The chapters end with an easy-to-read bulleted recap of the content. Some
chapters provide work space for budgeting and setting goals.
When my husband and I first got married, we had different
viewpoints on money. It was a book like this one that got us on the right path.
We swapped our vehicle for a more affordable one, bought our clothes at thrift shops,
and hardly bought anything without a coupon. We finally got the hang of living
on a reasonable, and mutually agreeable, budget. And while that took work, it became
something that drew us closer together.
The last chapter of this book, “Creating Momentum Without Spending a
Dime,” is my favorite. It begins with a quote from John Wooden:
“Don’t let making a living prevent you from making a life.”
This chapter addresses investing in your relationship
with God, investing in your spouse, investing in your extended family, and
investing in your community.
Kim Anderson writes this for us to ponder,
“In my lifetime I’ve seen families ripped apart and decades wasted in frustration over petty quarrels. People mad and resentful about stuff that doesn’t even matter in the grand scheme of life. Your decision to invest in your extended family may have to begin with forgiveness, but it’s worth it. Put pride aside and remember that one day those people won’t be around anymore to forgive, care about, or love on. A day is coming when it will be too late. Please don’t wait that long.”
